Comment Period on Health IT Enabled Quality Measurement Extended to September 20, 2012

The Federal Register has published an extension of the comment period for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s “Request for Information (RFI) on Quality Measurement Enabled by Health IT.” The comment period was extended to September 21, 2012, to allow interested persons more time to analyze the issues and prepare their comments. Originally, comments were due by August 21, 2012.

The non-regulatory RFI seeks ideas and input from diversified stakeholder groups such as health IT system developers, vendors, payers, quality measure developers, clinicians and health care consumers, on successful strategies and remaining challenges in the creation of health IT enabled quality measure development and reporting. AHRQ convened a webinar on July 31 to provide background information on the RFI and review highlights of the report Quality Measurement Enabled by Health IT: Overview, Possibilities, and Challenges. The webinar presented current initiatives to measure healthcare quality and possibilities for the next generation of health IT-enabled quality measurement.
