Health IT Adoption by U.S. Hospitals
The Office of the National Coordinator has prepared two new data briefs on health IT adoption by U.S. hospitals. These data briefs use data from the 2012 American Hospital Association Annual Survey Information Technology Supplement to analyze the trends in health IT adoption. The first data brief, "Adoption of Electronic Health Record Systems among U.S. No-federal Acute Care Hospitals: 2008-2012," describes the growth in adoption of at least Basic EHR systems, which has more than tripled since 2009. The second data brief, "Hospital Adoption of Electronic Health Record Technology to Meet Meaningful Use Objectives: 2008-2012," describes the substantial growth in hospitals’ EHR systems’ capability to meet Meaningful Use objectives.
