Happy Friday! As you may have noticed, ONC has been just a tad busy this week, but we did want to pause for a moment and recognize the 100 “Most Wired” hospitals as chosen by the American Hospital Association. Kudos to all the winners! We are sure your patients appreciate the hard work you’ve done to move toward interoperability and exchange!

2014 ONC Certified HIT  

With that said, let’s cut to the chase: To begin with, our Office of Certification released the ONC Certified HIT mark for 2014 this week. The mark helps ensure that Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) is available for eligible providers seeking to qualify for the CMS EHR Incentive Program. You can take a look at the list of certified EHRs at our Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL).

Cypress Update Released

To align with the June 2013 Annual Update for Eligible Professional Electronic Specifications for Clinical Quality Measures (CQM), ONC has released v2.3 of Cypress along with the updated CQM Test Procedure.  This updated test procedure details operational uses of testing various versions of Clinical Quality Measures released throughout 2013 and a clear concept of operations for testing on a per-CQM basis.  This updated test procedure also addresses a new feature in Cypress to eliminate a manual visual inspection step when testing QRDA Category 1 XML documents.

States Team Up

Just in time for hurricane season comes some good news. Often it is during the most horrific events that patients need their health data most urgently. With that in mind, 10 states announced Thursday that they would team up to provide patient health data to doctors and hospitals during the aftermath of a hurricane or other wide-spread disaster. The Health Information Exchange programs for Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin and West Virginia announced the initiative for patients forced from their homes due to a disaster.
