CDC’s Safe Healthcare Blog: What Happens in the Outpatient Clinic Doesn’t Always Stay in the Outpatient Clinic

Today, on CDC’s Safe Healthcare Blog, Andrew Wiese, an Epidemiology Fellow at the Tennessee Department of Health discusses six separate outbreaks of Adenovirus-associated epidemic keratoconjunctivitis in four different states. These outbreaks were mainly associated with outpatient eye care and are reported in this week’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
The blog and MMWR report highlight the need for more infection control in outpatient healthcare facilities.
