                       New This Week on HealthIT.gov

In This Issue

Many of you may have worked with, or heard from the chief of ONC's Office of Provider Adoption and Support (OPAS!), Mat Kendall. Mat is leaving us and we wanted to take this opportunity to shout out to him and say "Thanks!" (#ThanksMat). He will be missed.

Are we ready for Spring? That was a rhetorical question. Lots of blogging and other Health IT-related work going on, so read on!

Blogging, blogging, blogging

For those who follow our Chief Scientist Dr. Doug Fridsma (@Fridsma), we have something for you! Dr. Fridsma outlines news in the S&I framework space with the launch of the Clinical Quality Framework and the close-out of the Health eDecision initiative. Read more in his blog post!

Attention HIE wonks! John Rancourt (@JohnRancourt), in ONC's Office of Health Information Exchange, penned this blog post on the certification of a new open source popHealth tool.

Our partners at the Veterans Health Administration explain how they used ONC workforce courses to train hundreds of their staff to improve the health of vets.

Finally, our colleagues with the HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response write about how Health IT is helping First Responders and Emergency Departmentsbetter integrate what they do into the electronic health record. This work can lead to "better health outcomes and experiences."

Health IT Fellows

Learn about the newest Health IT Fellows who are championing Health IT all over the country. The Fellows classes were created to learn from those in the field and share best practices with others who are facing similar challenges to leveraging Health IT in their practices. The Fellows Bios are now available on HealthIT.gov where you can learn all about the 50 provider and administrator champions from 28 states. Check it out and find one near you!

If you want to become involved in the Health IT Vanguard program as a Health IT Fellow, or just want more information, please contact us at HealthITVanguard@hhs.gov.
