AHRQ Health Care Innovations Exchange: July 22 Web Event

AHRQ Health Care Innovations

Join the AHRQ Health Care Innovations Exchange for a Web event titled

Patient- and Family-Centered Care: Approaches for Children and Seniors

When: Tuesday, July 22, 2014, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm ET
Patient- and family-centered care is an approach to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health care grounded in mutually beneficial partnerships among patients, families, and health care professionals. It is a collaborative approach to caregiving and decision-making aimed at improving quality and safety. How do patient- and family-centered care strategies differ based on the population served?
Join the AHRQ Health Care Innovations Exchange for an in-depth dialogue about how the core concepts of patient- and family-centered care have been put into practice. This Web event is the second in a series designed to describe patient- and family-centered care, share new approaches to care, and explore lessons learned.
Innovators Michelle Rickerby and Diane DerMarderosian from the Hasbro Children’s Partial Hospital Program in Providence, Rhode Island will discuss how program staff work collaboratively with families of children and adolescents experiencing medical and emotional issues. Innovator Judith Rogers from Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland will discuss how developing a separate seniors-only emergency center, run by geriatrics-trained staff, has enhanced and tailored care to the needs and priorities of seniors and their families.
