New Implementation Guide on Care Management Entities

New Implementation Guide on Care Management Entities

Designing Care Management Entities for Youth with Complex Behavioral Health Needs

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has published the second Implementation Guide from the CMS-funded CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grant Program, now available on the national evaluation Web site under What We Learned. This Guide provides information about Care Management Entities (CMEs), which coordinate services provided by State agencies that serve youth with complex behavioral health needs. The Guide draws on the experiences of the three CHIPRA quality demonstration States — Maryland, Wyoming, and Georgia—that are using funds to implement or expand CMEs, supplemented with additional guidance and resources.
The Guide can be helpful to States interested in implementing or improving CMEs for youth with complex behavioral health needs and their families. The Guide may also be useful for county agencies if they are responsible for financing behavioral health or social services in the State.
