U.S. Cancer Statistics 1999-2011 Released

U.S. Cancer Statistics 1999-2011 Released

The U.S. Cancer Statistics: 1999–2011 Incidence and Mortality Web-based Report (USCS) contains the official federal statistics on cancer incidence (newly diagnosed cases) from each registry that met data quality criteria. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Cancer Institute have combined their cancer incidence data sources to produce these statistics. Mortality data from the National Vital Statistics System of CDC's National Center for Health Statistics are included for each state.
This Web site provides state-specific and regional data for cancer cases diagnosed and cancer deaths that occurred each year from 1999 to 2011 and for 2007-2011 combined. The data from 2011 are the most recent year for which incidence data are available.
In the United States in 2011, 1,532,066 new cancer cases were diagnosed and 576,685 cancer deaths occurred.
What data does the report contain?
The report includes incidence data on more than 1 million cases of invasive cancer (including about 14,700 cases among children younger than 20 years) diagnosed in each of the individual years. The report also includes mortality data from malignant neoplasms (cancers) as recorded in the National Vital Statistics System from the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
How can I access USCS data?
