What's Happening in Health IT

In This Issue

Happy Friday! With Health Datapalooza behind us, we have a slew of new projects and announcements so read on!
Our friends @HHS_Health wanted us to mention that we are partnering with CVS to give consumers new tools to stay healthy. Healthfinder.gov, which provides recommendations about personalized preventive services patients should receive based on their age and gender, is now available on CVS Health’s Minute Clinic website and we hope it will become available even more widely.
The deadline for submissions for the Community Interoperability and Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Program is June 15. The funding opportunity is designed to help increase the number of community efforts to make sure health information is appropriately accessed and used to support people improve their health.
Also coming up, is the deadline for comments on the criterion for electronic clinical quality measure (CQM) reporting in the CMS 2016 Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems proposed rule which is June 29. You also have until June 30 to comment on the 2015 Edition Draft Test Procedures.
The HealthIT.gov Dashboard is Mobile!
For your data viewing pleasure, this week we recently re-launched ONC’s data visualization and open government project, the Health IT Dashboard with a new responsive design that allows seamless viewing on your phone, tablet, or personal computer. This is hot on the heels of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services http://hhs.gov website redesign, and further enhances the public and our stakeholders’ needs to access and view government data and analysis where and how they want. Among other changes, ONC debuts an enhanced search/sort feature on the Dashboard home page that quickly helps find the latest data on adoption, exchange and interoperability, and patient engagement.
Data Briefs on Disparities and Access & Perceptions of Privacy
ONC issued a pair of new data briefs this week that you might be interested in. First, Data Brief 26, which deals with Disparities in Individuals’ Access and Use of Health IT in 2013. Second, Data Brief 27, which covers Individuals’ Perceptions of the Privacy and Security of Medical Records. Stay tuned for the 2014 results, which will be coming out this fall.
The Broadband Opportunity Council

As you may know, the National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) are Co-Chairing the Broadband Opportunity Council, a new interagency working group established to promote broadband investment and coordinate broadband policy across the federal government. On April 29, a request for comment (RFC) soliciting stakeholder input to inform the work of the Council was released. The deadline is next week (June 10), so we are encouraging you to submit an official response for the public record. In addition, the slides, transcript, and recording from a recent webinar about the RFC are now available on NTIA’s website (please scroll to the bottom of the page to see all of the documents).
