Today, CDC’s Safe Healthcare Blog releases two posts on how empowered clinicians can improve sepsis prevention and management.
Laura Messineo, a registered nurse on the Sepsis Alliance Board, shares her passion for empowering healthcare clinicians to suspect sepsis. Because many Americans have never heard of the word sepsis, Laura stresses the importance of healthcare clinicians’ responsibilities for educating the community.
Dr. Jim O’Brien, Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety at Ohio Health Riverside Methodist Hospital, discusses why hospital administrators should focus on improving sepsis care. Millions of dollars are spent on sepsis care in US hospitals every day. Dr. O’Brien presents an argument for why an empowered team of clinicians using proven improvement methods is necessary to improve patient care.
