Medicaid.gov
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Guide to Effective and Innovative State Agency Practices—Update Issued December 2015, a supplement to the Guide to Effective State Agency Practices that was issued in September 2014.  The updated Guide includes state-reported Medicaid COB/TPL practices that are in place and working, or in development, in the states in the summer of 2015, and provides an opportunity for peer assistance among the state Medicaid programs.  The updated Guide was developed in response to a recommendation by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), in a study of Medicaid COB/TPL (“Medicaid:  Additional Federal Action Needed to Further Improve Third-Party Liability Efforts”, GAO-15-208, issued January 2015).  Both Guides may be accessed from the related resources side bar at: http://www.medicaid.gov/medicaid-chip-program-information/by-topics/eligibility/tpl-cob-page.html.

Questions about the Guides should be directed to Nancy Dieter, Technical Director for Medicaid COB/TPL, at 410-786-7219 or nancy.dieter@cms.hhs.gov.
