This week is Provider and Hospital Week of Action for 2016 Open Enrollment. As the final January 31 deadline approaches, HHS is partnering with more than 25 hospital and provider associations, community health centers and local groups to encourage their patients to sign up for quality, affordable health coverage. Partnering organizations have committed to reaching more than 500,000 providers and hospitals throughout the week, who in turn will work with millions of consumers nationwide to promote Open Enrollment.
At HHS, we rely on primary care physicians, specialists, nurses, ob-gyns, social workers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other health care providers to educate their patients on the importance of health insurance. Health care providers know better than anyone that accidents do happen, and they’re often the most trusted voices when it comes to safeguarding our health and wellness. We need our partners in the community, in health centers, medical offices and in hospitals to work with patients directly to make sure they can find the peace of mind of health coverage for 2016. This year, HHS worked to strengthen these relationships by collaborating with our partners to create the ACA Pocket Guide for Providers and the Prescription for Coverage card, new tools that help providers initiate important conversations on how to sign-up, maintain, and use their coverage.
Organizations like the American Osteopathic Association, National Association of Community Health Centers, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Physicians, Trinity Health, America’s Essential Hospitals, American Hospital Association and Catholic Health Initiatives are holding enrollment events in their communities, engaging on social media and reaching out to their memberships, representing thousands of hospitals and providers nationwide, to provide them with the tools they need to help individuals and families get covered.
