Innovation within a health care system can be hindered when different interventions compete for time, attention, and funding. This commentary discusses insights from a health system that, due to restructuring, found various transition improvement initiatives at odds with one another. The authors review lessons learned that can be applied by organizations facing similar challenges with competing safety efforts.
