Apply Now for Unique Technical Assistance Opportunity

AHRQ--Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality: Advancing Excellence in Health Care

Applications for Child Health Quality Knowledge Transfer and Peer Learning Opportunity are due February 25

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), in partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), is offering a unique technical assistance and peer-to-peer learning opportunity to support State health care quality improvement projects for children enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP.

This knowledge transfer opportunity is for States that did not participate in the CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grant Program that are either: (1) planning or conducting work to improve children’s health care and could benefit from more technical support and peer-to-peer learning, or (2) have a quality initiative that is primarily adult-focused that they wish to expand to include children. State Medicaid and CHIP agencies are encouraged to apply and can include as partners other state agencies, county or other governmental agencies, non-profit organizations that carry out governmental programs for children enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP, and provider groups. Applicants from four (4) different states will be chosen to participate.

The knowledge transfer program will provide customized technical assistance. A team of subject matter experts, including evaluators of the Demonstration and other consultants, will help participating states apply findings from the Demonstration. The team will also create opportunities for peer-to-peer learning with the Demonstration States. For example, participants could get assistance with:
  • Identifying and implementing payment strategies.
  • Identifying and implementing clinical models.
  • Identifying, stratifying and/or targeting discrete population(s).
  • Improving coordination across providers and systems.
  • Enhancing use of data and data analytics.
  • Quality measurement and reporting, quality improvement, and performance improvement.

Interested applicants must complete the Expression of Interest form, available on our Web site. If the applicant is not the state Medicaid or CHIP agency, the applicant must obtain a written letter of support from the state Medicaid director or CHIP director. Please send completed forms and the letter of support to CHIPRADemoEval@ahrq.hhs.gov no later than February 25, 2016. States will be notified of the decision by the end of March.  You may also use this e-mail address to request a copy of the slides from our February 11 webinar, “Amplify Your Impact on Child Health Quality: Learning from the CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grant Program.”
