NOW AVAILABLE: 2016 ONC Annual Meeting Agenda At-a-Glance
The ONC Annual Meeting agenda at-a-glance is now available! This year's meeting will convene key stakeholders across the public and private sector to discuss advancing the seamless and secure flow of health information to enhance care, improve health and support science and research. This year, we will organize our sessions around the three core commitments that market leaders have made: to improve consumer access to their health information, combat information blocking, and implement federally recognized, national standards so that different health IT systems can speak the same language.
The 2016 ONC Annual Meeting will take place May 31 – June 2 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

High Impact Pilots and Standards Exploration Awards Funding Opportunity Announcements
Yesterday at Health Datapalooza, Dr. Karen DeSalvo announced two cooperative agreement programs worth $1.5 million. These programs are designed to build on federal and private efforts to ensure that health information can flow where and when it is needed. Three to seven High Impact Pilot (HIP) projects are expected to be funded ranging from $100,000 to $500,000. Three to five Standards Exploration Award (SEA) projects are expected to be funded ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.
The High Impact Pilots and Standards Exploration Awards cooperative agreement programs blend together standards and technology implementations to improve health information sharing among health care stakeholders, improve care delivery, and demonstrate how health IT can positively impact patient experience.
Interested applicants are encouraged to attend the Information Sessions on May 23 (HIP) or May 26 (SEA). The FOA is open from now until July 8, 2016. Letters of intent are due by June 10, 2016.

Move Health Data Forward Challenge
Dr. DeSalvo also launched the new Move Health Data Forward Challenge yesterday at Health Datapalooza, aimed at stimulating the work around consumer-mediated exchange. This challenge will help to create application programming interface (API) solutions using implementation specifications developed by the HEART Workgroup. These APIs will enable individuals to securely and electronically authorize the movement of their health data to destinations they choose.
The Move Health Data Forward challenge will have three phases, with a cumulative prize amount of $250,000 and a maximum prize value per participant of $75,000. Participants may apply independently or as a team and will need to recruit and engage individuals as part of testing their solutions.
There will be a webinar about the Challenge held on June 7, 2016 from 3-4 p.m. ET.
Celebrating National Nurses Week
Happy National Nurses Week to the nation’s nurses! ONC appreciates your hard work and applauds your critical role in our healthcare system! In celebration of National Nurses Week, ONC’s chief nursing officer Rebecca Freeman has published a blog post discussing nursing’s role in health IT. Specifically, she focuses on ways nurses and non-IT factors can improve the health IT experience. Rebecca is also hosting a Twitter chat on May 12 at 1 p.m. ET., to continue the discussion. Interoperability Proving Ground Launches Subscription Feature
Two months ago, the Interoperability Proving Ground (IPG) was launched and has been met with much enthusiasm. Since it’s go-live, the IPG has grown from 30 active projects across the country to over 200.
A suite of features designed to maximize the IPG’s value for the healthIT community are now available on the IPG. Visitors will now be able to subscribe to and follow specific projects by tag  and U.S. state, as well as configure a preferred notification frequency. The subscription feature is open to anyone that creates an IPG account. We have also upgraded the interactive map’s filter functionality.
