Nominations for upcoming Technical Expert Panel for the Refinement of Percent of Residents or Patients with Pressure Ulcers that are New or Worsened (Short-Stay) (NQF #0678)

CMS Open Door Forum

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has contracted with RTI International and Abt Associates to refine a cross-setting quality measure that measures the percent of residents/patients with new or worsened pressure ulcers in post-acute care facilities (Home Health Agencies, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Long-Term Care Facilities) in alignment with the Improving Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (known as the IMPACT Act). RTI is convening a Technical Expert Panel (TEP) as part of our effort in refining the quality measure: Percent of Residents or Patients with Pressure Ulcers that are New or Worsened (Short-Stay) (NQF #0678).
A TEP of approximately ten individuals will provide recommendations to CMS on the potential updates to the measure and to further refine the cross-setting approach in the post-acute care settings. The TEP will receive materials to inform its recommendation, including recent analyses of this measure’s performance and potential updates to the measure specifications and risk adjustment models.
Additional details about this project and the nomination materials are available at the following website: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/MMS/TechnicalExpertPanels.html
We are looking for a balanced mix of subject matter experts, from those with a clinical background (especially with regard to pressure ulcers in post-acute care patients and/or residents) to those with technical expertise in quality measurement, as well as a consumer perspective, to ensure that our measure accurately addresses concerns from various points of view. As an established expert in long term care quality, your input is highly regarded and would prove extremely helpful in future development.
If you wish to nominate yourself or other individuals for consideration, please email materials to:lfree@rti.org by the closing date Friday, June 10, 2016.
Thank you. We look forward to receiving your nominations.
