Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS)

New results from AHRQ’s CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey are now available at www.cahpsdatabase.ahrq.gov/cahpsidb. The survey asked patients about their recent experiences with clinicians and their staff. Results are based on voluntary submission of survey data to the CAHPS Database by health systems, medical practices, and other survey sponsors administering the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey. The 2015 CG-CAHPS Database includes 636,468 surveys submitted by 2,829 practice sites.
CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey Findings:
  • The highest scoring composite measure across all survey versions is Provider Communication; the composite measure for Access to Care and Information is the lowest.
  • Across specialties, Cardiology and Hematology/Oncology have among the highest scores for all composite measures.
  • Where trend data are available, scores have remained stable or increased slightly over time.
Users can view results via an online reporting system, Chartbook or research data files.

About CAHPS
Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) surveys ask consumers about their experiences with health care. Learn more about AHRQ’s CAHPS program at: www.ahrq.gov/cahps.

AHRQ’s CAHPS Database receives data voluntarily submitted by users that have administered either the CAHPS Health Plan Survey or the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey.
