Understanding human over-reliance on technology.

ISMP Medication Safety Alert! Acute Care Edition. September 8, 2016;21:1-4.

Over-reliance on technology can contribute to error due to user complacency. Reviewing how the tendency to trust in the correctness of information from technology can diminish human decision-making, this newsletter article offers strategies to address the problem including training clinicians to assess the reliability of the technology with monitoring and verificationactivities.
