Announcing the Mid-course Reviewof the 2010 National Vaccine Plan

Background

Established in 2010, the National Vaccine Plan (NVP) is the nation’s strategic roadmap for a 21st century vaccine and immunization enterprise. The National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO) Mid-course Review report is intended to reflect on the NVP priorities, gauge progress toward NVP goals, and identify the greatest opportunities for future success.

Review Process

The NVPO Mid-course Review report was developed through a highly collaborative effort—involving input from many federal and non-federal stakeholders. Months of gathering data, synthesizing achievements and opportunities, validating and prioritizing findings, and identifying indicators yielded the final report. In the coming months, the National Vaccine Advisory Committee will finalize their independent assessment of the findings from this NVPO Mid-course Review report.

Goals of the Review

  • Identify the top accomplishments from the first five years (2010 to 2015).
  • Determine the three to five greatest opportunity areas for the timeframe 2016 to 2020, and define what success will look like (outcomes) in each area.
  • Develop indicators or metrics that can be used to track progress against each of the top three to five opportunity areas.
