MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 2016;65(Early Release)

Congenital microcephaly has been a hallmark of intrauterine infection with Zika virus. However, despite
the absence of microcephaly at birth, 13 infants born in Brazil with laboratory evidence of Zika virus
infection during October 2015–January 2016 had brain abnormalities associated with congenital
Zika syndrome.
