U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Announces Appointment of Two New Members

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force announced today the addition of two new members: Michael Silverstein, M.D., M.P.H., and Chien-Wen Tseng, M.D., M.P.H., M.S.E.E. Dr. Silverstein and Dr. Tseng have been appointed by the director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to serve 4-year terms.
Dr. Silverstein is an associate professor of pediatrics, director of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics, and vice chair of research for the Department of Pediatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine. He is also a staff pediatrician at Boston Medical Center, New England’s largest safety net hospital. Dr. Silverstein’s research focuses on mental health services for children and families. His primary interest is the prevention of depression in at-risk mothers and mothers of vulnerable children.  
Dr. Tseng is the Hawaii Medical Service Association endowed chair in health services and quality research, an associate professor, and the associate research director in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. She is also a physician investigator with the nonprofit Pacific Health Research and Education Institute, an affiliate of the Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System. As a family physician, Dr. Tseng’s research focuses on improving quality of health care and lowering financial barriers to care, such as reducing the high cost of drugs for chronic and acute diseases.
