Registration Opens - Sept 19 HCUP Hands-On Workshop on State Databases

Registration for HCUP’s September 19 Data User’s Workshop is Now Open!
Register now for AHRQ’s full-day hands-on Workshop entitled Using the HCUP State Ambulatory Surgery and Services Databases (SASD), on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at AHRQ headquarters in Rockville, Maryland Registration information is available on the HCUP Workshops & Webinars page of the HCUP User Support (HCUP-US) Web site.  Registration closes August 31 or when capacity is reached. The workshop usually fills quickly. The workshop is offered free of charge.
This intermediate-level workshop is designed to teach health services researchers and analysts about using Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) databases and products. Those interested in learning more about using the SASD and how they differ from the State Inpatient Databases (SID) and State Emergency Department Databases (SEDD) would especially benefit from the workshop. Faculty will present instruction on working with the HCUP databases to conduct cross sectional analyses, with a specific hands-on comparison of the HCUP SASD and SID databases and how to use HCUP User Support (HCUP-US) documentation to their advantage when developing analyses. Participants will use their own computers loaded with text editing software and will walk through SAS programs on the databases.
Computers will NOT be provided.  Prior SAS knowledge will be beneficial, but is not required.  Experience with HCUP databases or prior attendance to the HCUP Fall Webinar Series on September 6 and 13 would be helpful. Registration for both Webinars opens on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
