ONC Health IT Certification Program Updates (08/04/2017)
Transitioning the ONC Health IT Certification Program Testing Portfolio
In a recent blog post, Steve Posnack, ONC’s Office of Standards and Technology director outlined a 5-year plan for shifting the ONC Health IT Certification Program testing portfolio to one using more private sector-developed testing tools. As the agency looks towards implementing Title IV of the 21st Century Cures Act, the intent is to expand and include as many industry-developed and maintained testing tools as possible.
NCQA Test Procedures for Electronic Clinical Quality Measures
Updated Certification Companion Guides (CCGs) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA’s) alternative test procedures for 2015 Edition certification criteria § 170.315(c)(2) Clinical quality measures (CQMs) – import and calculate, § 170.315(c)(3) CQMs – report, and § 170.315(c)(4) CQMs – filter, are now available on the 2015 Edition Test Method page. In addition, NCQA’s ONC Health IT Testing website is now live. NCQA is in the process of applying to become an ONC Authorized Test Lab (ONC-ATL).
ONC has an open policy for developers, health IT companies, or private entities to submit test procedures, test tools, and test data to be considered for approved use as part of the ONC Health IT Certification Program. Anyone who is interested in submitting new test tools, test procedures and/or test data should review the Federal Register notice which includes details about what should be submitted. Interested parties should contact the ONC Health IT Certification Program at onc.certification@hhs.gov.
