Rural and Urban Differences in Passenger-Vehicle-Occupant- Deaths and Seatbelt Use Among Adults—United States, 2014
Rural Americans are less likely to wear seatbelts and more likely to die in crashes, according to data released in a new MMWRreport. Adult motor-vehicle drivers and passengers in America’s most rural counties had motor-vehicle death rates 3 to 10 times higher than those in the most urban counties. States and communities can use evidence-based interventions to increase seatbelt use and reduce death rates for adult motor-vehicle drivers and passengers.
