Webinar: Secure API Server Showdown Challenge
Developers are invited to build a secure, ready-to-use FHIR server as part of the latest ONC challenge - the Secure API Server Showdown. The winning FHIR server will have security built-in using current industry standards, best practices, and recently issued healthcare-specific implementation guide requirements. In two days (November 9, 2017), ONC will host an informational webinar providing more details about the challenge, followed by an opportunity to have your questions answered.

Reminder: 2018 Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA) Review and Comment Period
The Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA), an interactive catalog of standards and implementation specifications to support interoperability in healthcare, was recently updated with new content and questions for stakeholder feedback. As a reminder, ONC wants to hear your feedback before the 2018 Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA) reference edition is published later this year. CMS Announces Transition of eCQMs to CQL for the CY2019 Reporting/Performance Periods
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced quality program electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) will be transitioned to use the HL7 Clinical Quality Language (CQL) standard (CQL Release 1, Standard for Trial Use (STU) 2) for logic expression. HHS Opioid Symposium & Code-a-Thon 
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is asking experienced data scientists, computer programmers, researchers, public health experts, and innovators to come to Washington, DC for an opioid Code-a-Thon on December 6-7, which will challenge participants to develop data-driven solutions to combat the opioid epidemic. There will be three prize opportunities up to $10,000 each– one for each challenge track. Learn more about participating in the Code-a-Thon.
Are you up for the challenge? HHS is looking for teams of 3-5 people who:
  • Have skills that match the need: Desired skills are computer programming, data analytics, and end user design.
  • Are multidisciplinary: Teams should include diverse expertise in areas relevant to the challenge tracks, such as health policy, analytics, social science, design, and/or engineering.
  • Are experienced: Teams should bring significant professional experience in their respective fields and/or have participated in a public or private sector sponsored Code-a-Thon.
