Join Us for a Healthy and Safe Swimming Facebook Live!

CDC
Facebook Live
The week before Memorial Day, May 21 – 27, 2018, marks Healthy and Safe Swimming Week.
To kick off the week, CDC is hosting a Facebook Live on Monday May 21, at 2:00 PM ET. The event will feature CDC’s healthy swimming expert who will provide information about steps swimmers can take to protect themselves and loved ones from germs in the water this summer. Viewers will have an opportunity to ask questions about healthy and safe swimming.
The Facebook Live will also include a discussion of the findings in the latest issue of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, in which CDC found about 500 outbreaks linked to pools, hot tubs and water playgrounds during 2000-2014. Cryptosporidium continues to cause the most outbreaks linked to pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds, followed by Legionella and Pseudomonas. The report describes mixed progress in preventing outbreaks caused by germs commonly spread through the water we swim, play and relax in.
