AHRQ Stats: Retention of Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage

About 77 percent of people who had Health Insurance Marketplace coverage in December 2014 retained their coverage in December 2015. Highlights

  • 35.2 percent and 43.1 percent of new Marketplace enrollees in 2014 and 2015, respectively, were continuously uninsured prior to obtaining Marketplace coverage.
  • 28.5 percent and 20.5 percent of new Marketplace enrollees in 2014 and 2015, respectively, had continuous coverage prior to their Marketplace enrollment.
  • As of December 2015, 77.4 percent of non-elderly adults with Marketplace coverage in December 2014 had retained their coverage and 10.1 percent were uninsured.
